Small Group Field Day

We had a great time at our 1st Annual Small Group Field Day. Grilled burgers, made s'mores around the fire pit, played games and just hung out.

Memorial Day Weekend Camping Trip

We had a great time camping with our friends, the Binders. The kids stayed busy around camp playing, catching caterpillars and granddaddy long legs, going on hayrides, learning new camp games, eating s'mores, painting pictures, watching a flint rifle demo, etc...

Reed read a book to Caiden and Cate. We keep this book in the camper all the time so it's always a special treat when they "discover" it. It's nature photos and camping pics. Reed's making up the story.

Cate's really growing up!

Cate lost her 1st Tooth!
Reed and I were in her class for an volunteer ice cream social and I heard this commotion behind me. All these little 6 year old girls were squealing and saying, "Cate lost her first tooth!" They were just as excited as she was. Reed was happy that he was there to see it. I just hope the Tooth Fairy can find our campsite tonight.

Babble from the Back Seat

Reed, "It's a beautiful day for lawn mowering."

Kim Sharp this one is for you:
Reed, "And now for the most famous words in motor sports, if Kyle Bush wins the race will he eat some M&Ms and drink some "wemonwade"? Mom, does Kyle Bush drink wemonwade? I think he does. Everybody drinks wemonwade."

We miss Gran!

Gran came for a visit from Mississippi. We had such a good time. She brought her ferocious, I mean sweet, lion, I mean dog Cheyla. She got to visit both of the kids' schools. She went to field day at Cate's school.

We took on a big painting project. We watched birds from the deck and porch. We had to do a little shopping at World Market. We watched one of my favorite movies, Miss Potter. We ran out of energy before we tackled the new flower bed of irises. Gran likes big projects. The kids got to sleep in the same room which they thought was so cool. We played games outside. We played "beauty parlor." ;-)

We miss you already Gran. Thanks for coming to see us. We love you!

Spring is Here

This morning while Reed was eating his bowl of cereal and watching the birds out the kitchen window he said,

"What!?! Those Robins are on top of each other!"

He's a very curious guy and doesn't miss a thing. It's getting kind of tricky with all the birds that are "playing" around our yard.

Mother's Day Blessings

First I was blessed with a wonderful mom. She's adventurous, creative, fun and has always given unconditional love. Then I was blessed with a terrific step-mom. She is always so good to us and she makes a super pot of gumbo. :-) Then I was blessed with the best mother-in-law you could hope for. She treats all her daughters-in-law like her own kids.

Then God wanted to give me a glimpse of how He loves us so He gave me children. Cate and Reed. They are so fun. God uses them all the time to show us what it's like to love unconditionally, to want to comfort gently or direct with a firm hand at times. My children are such a huge joy. I am so thankful that I'm a Mom but I am more thankful that we have a God to knows all our needs, who wants to have a relationship with us, who loved us so much that He sent His only Son to earth to die for our sins so that we can spend eternity with Him.

Kids = Blog Fodder

This morning on the way to take Reed to school he said, "I miss Cate when she's at school." I said, "you do?" He said, "Yeah, I must love her."

After school the kids asked for a Sprite in a can. I usually don't give that much drink so I dumped out half and they each had their own can. Cate was sitting in the chair sipping it and said, "I'm drinking this like a grown up." Reed took his can over and said, "Cheers" and they bumped their cans together. I was cleaning out her lunchbox and held up her sandwich with one bite missing and said, "why didn't you eat this like a grown up?" Reed said, "Do grown ups eat?"

Reed's taking a break.

Dinner tonight:
Reed gets up in the middle of dinner tonight to go to the bathroom. He's in there a while. Wes goes to check on him and Reed comes out and says, "I'm taking a break from pottying right now. I'll go back later." So he eats some more dinner then gets up to go again. This time he must have been successful because he asked for help wiping. After Wes helps him he says, "Oh, I forgot to tee tee" and goes back in then turns right around and comes out. Wes said, "did you tee tee?" Reed said, "No. It wasn't coming out. Just pieces of drips."
