Sonshine Promises
A good friend of mine, Gretchen Clasby, is the artist who painted the above picture. She has a business called Sonshine Promises and creates wonderful greeting cards, figurines, framed pictures... of little bluebirds and cardinals. I especially love the frazzled-looking birds. Gretchen ministers to so many through the sayings and scripture quotes. I was just thinking about her and what she has meant in my life so I thought I would share. If you would like to see any of her products you can go here for her website.

Batter Blaster
I can't believe someone really made this. While camping last weekend we were just talking about an easier way to mix just the right amount of pancake batter without having to mix more or throw away extra. I got home and saw this on TV. Go to www.batterblaster.com to see pancake batter in a spray can.

Weekend in the Woods
We had a great weekend camping at Cedars of Lebanon State Park with our great friends, the Binders. This is one of our favorite parks.
We did some letterboxing (treasure hunting). Along the trails we spotted some abandoned fairy houses and came upon a troll bridge. The troll almost got Heidi at the bridge.
Cate found the dollar bill the troll had left in a cave as bait but she managed to escape without being caught.
We found the tree that Peter Pan uses to get into his hidden cave.
The kids collected feathers, chestnuts and rocks to make a fairy house back at camp. They had a great time painting rocks and pictures to lure the fairies to our house.
We saw lots of walking stick bugs, spiders, rolly pollies, caterpillars (calerpitters as Reed says) and grubs. A good time was had by all and it was really hard to pack up and head home.

Oohh Say Can You See...
Reed loves singing. Sometimes he gets stuck on a song. The National Anthem is the one he's stuck on now. Usually it's either a continuous loop or sometimes it ends with "Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!" I wish I could have recorded it without him knowing because it's much better (and a little twangy) when he doesn't think anyone's listening.

Preschool Wears Reed Out

Reed Goes to Preschool
Reed started school with the tradition of stopping by Dunkin' Donuts for a sugary treat. They are so nice there. When the manager heard me say Reed was starting preschool he wouldn't take any money for the donuts.
He walked right in like he had been doing this all his life. It helped that he went with me last year when I dropped off Cate.
He hardly noticed when I said goodbye. The teacher said he did great. Reed had missed his first day of school because he had a fever but Ms. Julie said he never missed a beat. We love you Reed and we're so proud of you.
